SHIRLEY FARRELL

Shirley has over twenty years experience in commercial real estate transactions including complex leases for both landlords, and tenants, purchases and sales, property management, development, and real estate litigation. In her previous position as in-house counsel for McDonald's Corporation, Shirley was Managing Counsel/Senior Director and the team manager responsible for in excess of 600 transactions annually for all United States McDonald's leased locations. Other positions held at McDonald's included Senior Counsel/Director of Property Management, and Senior Counsel/Director and team manager for the United States West, Southeast and Central Divisions. Shirley received a number of awards while at McDonald's including awards for outstanding and innovative development projects. As in-house counsel for McDonald's Corporation, one of the world's leading franchise companies, she also handled franchise matters involving purchase and sale agreements, enforcement of franchise terms, financial workouts and dispute resolution. Prior to McDonald's, Shirley was in-house counsel for a shopping center development and management company handling all in-house legal work including leases, tenant delinquencies, construction, parcel sales, shopping center acquisitions and refinancing. Shirley also has experience working for business clients as a part of a general practice law firm concentrating in real estate and corporate law. Shirley served as the Chair for McDonald's participation in the Street Law Program. The Street Law Program is an international program providing practical legal education to high school students in diverse communities. In her capacity as the Chair of this program for McDonald's, Shirley organized and participated in activities including mock trials, classroom teaching and symposiums. Shirley received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University.
